The original Scottish biscuit maker was McVitie & Price, Ltd. established in 1830 in Edinburgh, Scotland. McVitie & Price's first major biscuit was the McVitie's Digestive, the first ever digestive biscuit, created in 1892. The biscuit was given its name because it was thought that its high baking soda content served as an aid to digestion.
McVitie's Milk Chocolate Caramel Digestives was the winner of the McVitie’s Dunk For Britain campaign in 2004, beating all other McVitie’s biscuits to win the title ‘Nation’s favourite McVitie’s dunking biscuit’!
Over the last five years, McVitie’s Digestives have measurably reduced their sodium and saturated fat content.
